Subjects Taught
First Grade

I graduated from Susan Moore High School in 1987. I received my bachelor's degree in Health Administration from Auburn University and later received my master's degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University.

I have been teaching first grade at Susan Moore Elementary for 15 years.  Before teaching first grade, I was an aide for 4th and 5th grade and an at-risk teacher at Cleveland High School for one year.

I attended Susan Moore High School throughout my elementary and high school years and graduated from there in 1987.  After my college years, I married my husband, Patrick Sloan, who is a train engineer for CSX Transportation.  We have three wonderful children.  Dylan (19) just graduated from high school this past year here at Susan Moore and our twin daughters, Cecily and Madyson (17), will be seniors this year.  Our family are members of Grace Baptist Church, where we have a wonderful church family.  I am sponsor of the varsity and junior high cheerleader squads.  I don't have a lot of hobbies other than I love watching football.  Susan Moore football and Auburn football are my passion.  I also love going to the beach each summer and water rafting.  I love teaching first grade because it is such a special year for all children.  First grade is where children become readers and it is such a wonderful feeling to teach and watch a child blossom into a strong reader.
